Acne occurs when the natural oils that the skin produces gets clogged in the pores of the skin. Normally, acne is prevalent in the onset of puberty when the body starts to produce hormones, it has also been known to be a problem for women during pregnancy. Since acne is a problem for people world wide, there are many forms of treatment, products and medications on the market. You can get apple cider vinegar for your acne, rosacea treatments from your local supermarket or health food store. Ideally you should purchase organic apple cider vinegar, as this has more of the vital nutrients contained within, but it will be slightly more expensive. If you have blackheads on your skin, then you can use a range of natural treatments in order to help deal with them and prevent others from forming. One of the most common natural blackhead treatments is similar to a skin exfoliate that many women use for cosmetic purposes. These are great devices as they help the skin to shed the old skin cells that build up over some time. You should buy a few of these skin peels and try them for yourself.Natural acne treatments are becoming more and more popular with the passing of each year, and for good reason; there is strong demand. But why is there a demand for alternative acne treatments? Because people have grown wary of the mainline acne treatments that list more chemicals as ingredients than you can find under your kitchen sink. This is where natural acne treatments come in.There are also many people that admit to not understanding the underlying causes of acne. This creates a problem when trying to find a cure. Most physicians know about the symptoms and how to treat them, but they still don’t understand what’s going on internally to cause acne to be there.People with acne tend to be more depressed and unhappy. People can be cruel calling you names and teasing you for having those red spots on your face. It greatly affects self-esteem and to some people especially teenagers, acne can affect their love life and social life. Finding a natural treatment for your acne will definitely boost your self confidence and will bring a lot of changes in your life.Homeopathy is a natural mode of medical practice that makes use of natural substances like herbs, minerals and even venomous materials to formulate remedies for various types of diseases. Acne, in both adults and teenagers, can be effectively overcome by the employment of the homeopathic mode of treatment.Mix almond powder with rose water to create a paste. Apply this paste to the skin and gently massage the paste with your fingertips. Leave the paste for 30 minutes before you wash it off with cold water. This solution is very good to get rid of blackheads.

Cow’s Milk and Acne Treatment.

Avoiding cow’s milk will help get rid of my acne. Recently, three epidemiological studies from the same group of scientists found an association between acne treatment and consumption of partially skimmed milk, instant breakfast drink, Sherbet, Cottage and Cream Cheese. The researchers hypothesize that the association may be caused by hormones present in cow’s milk such as several sex hormones and bovine insulin like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) or even iodine. Chocolate and Acne Treatment.

Eliminating Chocolate one would imagine could get rid of my acne. This fallacy is not supported by scientific studies. Studies have shown that not the chocolate, but the high glycemic natures of certain foods containing simple carbohydrates are the cause of acne. Chocolate itself has a low glycemic index. Chocolate is also high in antioxidants, and since chocolate boosts the serotonin levels in the brain, it may reduce stress and actually help get rid of my acne.

Carbohydrates.

The long-held belief that there is no link between diets high in refined sugars and processed foods, and acne, has recently been challenged. The previous belief was based on earlier acne treatment studies (some using chocolate and Coca Cola) that were methodologically flawed. The recent low glycemic-load hypothesis postulates that rapidly digested carbohydrate foods (such as soft drinks, sweets, white bread) produce an overload in blood glucose hyperglycemia that stimulates the secretion of insulin, which in turn triggers the release of IGF-1 which has direct effects on the sebaceous gland and has been shown to stimulate hyperkeratosis and epidermal hyperplasia. These events facilitate acne formation. In support of this hypothesis, randomized controlled acne treatment trials of a low glycemic-load diet helped get rid of my acne and reduced weight, androgen activity and levels of IGF-1. High IGF-1 levels and mild insulin resistance (which causes higher levels of insulin) had previously been observed in patients with acne. High levels of insulin won’t help get rid of my acne.

The absence of acne necessitating acne treatment in some non-Westernized societies could be explained by the low glycemic index of these cultures’ diets. It is possible that genetic reasons account for there being no acne in these populations, although similar populations (such as South American Indians or Pacific Islanders) do develop acne. Note also that the populations studied consumed no milk or other dairy products.

Further research is necessary to establish whether a reduced consumption of high-glycemic foods, or treatment that results in increased insulin sensitivity (like metformin) can significantly help as an acne treatment, though consumption of high-glycemic foods should in any case be kept to a minimum to get rid of my acne, for general health reasons. For acne treatment, avoidance of “junk food” with its high fat and sugar content will help get rid of my acne.

Vitamins A and E and Acne Treatment

Studies have shown that newly diagnosed patients needing to get rid of my acne tend to have lower levels of vitamin A circulating in their bloodstream than those who are acne free. In addition people with severe acne also tend to have lower blood levels of vitamin E. Increasing vitamin A and E intake may help get rid of my acne.

There are several stages of acne, or should I say, three types of acne conditions:
1) Mild Acne
2) Moderate Acne
3) Severe Acne
In which case, all three would require your attention as soon as possible. Let’s take the milde acne for instance, it is of course the simplest form of acne and can be treated by simply washing your face regularily or cleaning the area where acne is present wiht luke warm water. Apply a mild acne topical solution like Benzoyl Peroxide or Salicylic Acid. Both can be found and purchased over the counter at your local drug store or pharmacy.
Now for moderate acne, this is usually acne that would cover over 50% of your face or somewhere on the body. Not yet the severe stage, but can come close to it if not treated right away. At this stage, I would suggest visiting your dermatologist to get more test done on your skin so that you can be treated with a more stronger acne regimen. Some treatments that would be offered at time of visit could be something like a “blue light theraphy” treatment or you may be prescribed oral medications or even a topical solution.
If you are experiencing the severe stages of acne, this is the type of acne that consumes your entire face and/or body over 50%. These types of acnes appear to be more severe and leave permanent scarring to the skin. They look more inflamed and cyst like as well. If this is where you are at in the stage of acne, it is urgent that you seek medical treatment with your dermatologist as soon as possible! Neglecting to treat the problem, could result in long term facial or body scarring.See Pictures of Acne and Understand the Different Treatment Solutions
Most people think that acne only affects the facial area, but that is further from the truth! Acne can consume the entire body as well if left untreated. Though it is more problematic on the face, back, neck and even arms. Reports show that these body parts affected with acne are the worse cases.
Topical aide such as Benzoyl can help reduce and treat acne with success. Ointments like Benzoyl Peroxide can be easly bought over the counter at your local drug store. Benzoyl will come in several levels of strength factors, from 2.5 and above. Topical medicines like Benzoyl can help minimmize the sebaceous gland activity and unblock clogged pores.
The use of Retonoid cream is also a good way to get fid of acne problems. Retonoid is mainly known for removing white heads, black heads and comedonal acne. But for those who suffer with moderate to severe acne, the best treatment of all is prescribed meds by the dermatologist. Specifically medicines like Menocyline, Accutane, Tretinoin and other will help clear your skin of acne.
If you are left with sightly horrific looking scars to the face or body, there is a home made remedy that it is being used right now called chemical peels. Though it may be a little risky doing this yourself if you are not sure what you are doing, therefore and professional doctor would be the logical choice. In closing to keep and maintain a healthy vibrant looking skin, be sure you are eating a well-balanced meal rich with nutrients, excercise more and get plenty of rest. This treatment is called the “natures cure-all” to vitaility and a healthy lifestyle!

These pores sometimes become clogged, causing bacteria to build up behind the skin. The best acne treatment is a healthy diet. Eating a healthy diet allows your digestive system. There are certain foods that can trigger the onset of acne and these foods should be eliminated or limited in your diet.

A healthy lifestyle including a healthy diet and exercise can help you to decrease your chance of an acne outbreak.

Acne light treatment is rapidly becoming a popular acne remedy because it is a fairly easy and a drug-free way to help heal blemishes. As you know, many topical medications contain strong ingredients that damage sensitive skin, resulting in peeling, redness, and increased sun sensitivity. Ouch ! But, Blue light (not the beer, if you are a Canadian) therapy is widely regarded as an excellent alternative to most acne medications. Some individuals have expressed concern over the safety of this procedure, becuase this procedure used to use ultraviolet (UV) light that was harmful to the skin. Fortunately, modern Clearlight treatments have been FDA approved and free of UV dangers.

The FDA approved blue light therapy for acne in August of 2002. In studies, two 15-minute exposures a week for a period of four weeks produced a 60 percent reduction in acne in 80 percent of patients. Reported remissions from acne lasted as long as three to eight months. The first approved system of treatment, ClearLight, is now available through dermatologists. This method involves a new therapeutic blue or red light that uses what is called Acne PhotoClearingTM – APCTM technology. It targets and destroys the surface of the acne and quickly and easily repairs it. It is also known to be effective in clearing inflamed acne in one month.

So how does blue light therapy work?

Basically, patients are exposed to a low intensity blue light source (405 nm to 420 nm) for 15 minutes twice per week for 4 weeks. Each session costs between $50 and $150, making a full course of treatment an average of $800. But, wouldn’t you know it, acne light treatment is considered cosmetic and is therefore not covered by insurance.

Another form of acne light therapy that is used more and more is known as pulsed light and heat energy (LHE) therapy.

LHE therapy uses both light and heat to eradicate the root causes of acne. Very much like blue light therapy, LHE therapy uses light to destroy acne-causing bacteria. It also uses heat to reduce the production of sebum and to help shrink sebaceous glands. It is an attractive option for many acne sufferers because it promises fast results. Usually, improvement in the symptoms of acne can be seen in as little as 30 days. Not surprisingly, this is becoming popular because it is a fast treatment, with most sessions done in just over 10 minutes. The FDA has approved LHE therapy for the treatment of mild to moderate acne.

While different kinds of light therapies may seem attractive, they can also be expensive, and may not be covered by most health insurance plans. If you are looking for an answer that is milder and less expensive, consider the many herbal therapies that are available. Some acne sufferers swear by certain herbal supplements, including black currant seed oil, evening primrose oil and others. Follow the instructions on the bottle or ask your pharmacist or doctor for advice. Also, never take any herbal medication if you are taking prescription drugs as their could be side effects. Consult with your Pharmacist or Doctor first.

Visit a skin specialist or dermatologist for more information on acne light treatments.

1.) Can you get (catch) acne from other people?

Answer: While certain types of acne do contain a bacterium, it is located in the hair follicles under your skin and can not be transmitted through contact. So no, touching or kissing someone with acne will not cause you to develop acne.

2.) If both my parents had acne does that mean I will develop acne?

Answer: Studies show that heredity does play an important role in determining who develops acne. So children of parents who had or have acne are at a grater risk then others. It should be noted that as with any disease just because you have a family history, does not guarantee you will get it; only that you have a much great chance then someone with no family history.

3.) Does eating or drinking certain foods cause acne?

Answer: Over the years studies have suggested everything from chocolate, candy, fried foods, sugar, drinking water, orange juice to milk can cause you to develop acne or make existing acne worse. However their is no scientific evidence to support any such results. There are so many factors effecting acne development that it is very difficult to isolate any one cause. So whether or not to avoid certain foods or drinks is really just an individual preference. If you find your skin reacts negatively to certain foods, then just don’t eat or drink it.

4.) Does dirt on my skin cause acne?

Answer: Having proper hygiene will help with healthy skin. However dirty skin will not cause acne, but anybody with acne should be extra vigilant in having a good cleansing routine. Over washing can irritate your skin and make it more vulnerable to infection. Washing with a gentle cleanser will help reduce skin cell build up and keep your skin looking at its best. So find a balance and try not to over wash.

5.) Does stress cause acne?

Answer: Stress has been shown to make acne worse, not directly cause it. So if you suffer from acne you should be aware of how you react under stress and develop ways to help manage and keep it under control. This will not only help with controlling your acne but also benefit your over all health.

6.) Can you develop acne once you are out of your teens?

Answer: The simple answer is yes. In fact many people who never experienced acne as a teen can develop it in their 30, 40, and 50’s.

7.) Does make up or sunscreen make acne worse?

Answer: Certain products that are overly greasy and thick can plug the skins follicles leading to the development of acne. Not all products affect everyone the same way, so while you many develop acne using one product someone else may not. If you are prone to acne you will need to be extra careful with what you put on your skin. Try to always use oil free products and also test a small amount on a patch of skin for a few days before using it all over.

8.) Will exercising affect my acne?

Answer: While it is still unclear why this happens, vigorous exercising that causes your body to heat up and sweat does seem to cause acne to get worse for certain people. One theory is that exercise increases the production of sebum, the oil that when to much is produced can lead to acne.

9.) Can a facial help with acne?

Answer: There is no easy way to answer this question. The term facial is used to describe everything from an over the counter product you buy from a drug store and do it yourself to something done at an expensive spa for hundreds of dollars. The bottom line is anything that might irritate your skin can make your acne worse.

10.) Why does my acne stop responding to my current treatment?

Answer: Acne medication, like all medications can become less effective over time as your body builds a resistance to them. It might be necessary to use acne treatment regiments on a rotational basis for optimum effectiveness.

Treating Acne With Ablative And Non-ablative Lasers
Although there are many different ways to treat acne, many traditional acne treatments are harsh on your skin and have numerous side effects. However, experimentation with different techniques are yielding positive results and providing much safer and natural ways to deal with acne and acne scars. At the forefront of these more gentle acne treatments are light and laser therapy.
It has been found that specialized lights and lasers can have a positive impact on acne and can even remove acne scars in some cases. There are now a variety of lights and lasers that can be used in different situations to treat acne depending on a person’s skin type and the severity of their acne. However, there is some kind of laser or light therapy for nearly anyone, regardless of how severe their acne is or where it is located: on the face, on the back, or even the scalp and hairline.
Although laser beams are a type of light ray, there are some distinct differences between light and laser treatments, and even drastic differences between various laser treatments. One thing that should be noted is that since light and laser treatments do not necessarily include any kind of medications or traditional medicine, there are no restrictions on who can professionally apply laser treatments. This means you do not need a license, certification, or training to operate laser or light treatments. As with other acne treatments, each treatment carries certain risks, although some are more serious than others.
Laser Treatments
There are two types of laser treatments, ablative and non-ablative. Both of these laser treatments are becoming very popular because of their effectiveness in eradicating acne, as well as removing acne scars, age lines, wrinkles, and discolorations. As would be expected, the more extreme treatment yields quicker and more permanent results, but there is a risk of side effects.
Ablative lasers are the oldest type of laser used to treat acne. The ablative laser rids skin of acne in two different ways. First, the laser heats the sebatious glands beneath the skin. The heat applied to the sebatious glands causes them to shrink and produce much less oil, which means that your pores do not clog as easily. However, ablative lasers also remove the epidermis, which is the outermost layer of your skin. The epidermis is essentially burned off or ‘vaporized’ as many websites say. Removing the outer layer of skin destroys skin that is marked with acne scars and causes collegen growth, which replaces skin damaged by acne scars with clear, smooth skin.
Although this treatment only takes one session, patients will find that their face is red and very sensitive for a number of weeks, which is a direct result of the outer layer of skin being burned off. The skin that replaces it is normally free from noticeable flaws, but it takes several weeks for this skin to grow and heal, leaving patients discomforted and with red marks on their face until healing is complete.
Using an ablative laser to treat acne is very much like removing a tattoo. Vaporizing the epidermis essentially allows your skin a blank slate so that it can grow back naturally without any scar tissue or formations. The drawback of using ablative lasers is that it takes a long time to heal completely and it is possible to vaporize too much with the laser. In some cases, laser operators can make the laser too intense or hold it in one place too long and cause permanent scarring.
Non-ablative lasers, on the other hand, produce similar results, but are much milder. Like ablative lasers, non-ablative lasers also shrink and impair the functions of the sebaceous glands so that they will not get clogged as easily and produce pimples. However non-ablative lasers have no effect on the outer layer of your skin. Because your epidermis is not burned off, non-ablative lasers do not leave patients with embarrassing red marks on their face. Non-ablative lasers also stimulate collagen growth, so acne scars can be removed without vaporizing your skin. However, because non-ablative lasers are not as harsh, they do require more than one treatment session. For non-ablative lasers, it may be necessary to receive treatment every two weeks.
If you do decide to pursue laser therapy to deal with your acne, it is necessary to make sure that the person running the laser is qualified and knows what they are doing. Because you do not need a license or certification to purchase or operate a laser therapy system, some operators will be more reliable than others. For any laser treatment, going to a dermatologist will likely yield much better results than someone who doesn’t have a lot of experience treating acne, especially concerning the use of lasers. Laser treatments can be very effective in treating acne, but if used incorrectly, permanent scarring can result

What is Acne?

Acne is a very common skin ailment found mostly in the period of puberty. It is more common in women than in men. Acne is characterized by the presence of eruptions on the skin, which are commonly known as zits or pimples.

Acne is more commonly found in the western countries especially of the American and European continents. This could be because of a higher genetic disposition in these areas. However, the general trend is that women tend to suffer more from acne than men. Though most cases of acne come and go with the puberty, rare acne cases could continue well into adulthood..Why is Acne caused?

Acne is a sign of the impurity within the body. The impurity could be in the blood, which manifests itself externally as acne. If the blood is impure, then the sebaceous (sweat) glands will have to work harder in eliminating these wastes. This hyperactivity of the sweat glands causes acne.

Hormonal imbalances are very important causes of acne. During puberty there are major hormonal changes in the body, as also during each menstrual cycle of women. Therefore, these are important periods when acne can occur. People who consume steroids for any reason also stand a higher chance of getting acne.

Personal hygiene is another factor that can cause acne. People who do not care much about facial hygiene will have dead cell accumulation on their faces. These cells could develop an allergic reaction, manifesting itself as acne. Otherwise, bacteria could reside in the facial pores and cause pimples. Such factors could cause the person to itch the face, which would aggravate the acne.

Other metabolic conditions can also aggravate the acne. Indigestion is one of the known factors. People who have too much libido, but are not able to give vent to their sexual desires with actual sexual intercourse might develop acne as a result of their sexual frustration. People living under stressful conditions are also prone to acne. What are the Symptoms of Acne?

The most prominent symptoms of acne are the pimples that appear generally on the face. The most common regions of the face for the acne to appear are the cheeks, the nose and the forehead. However in extreme cases, the pimples could spread to the chest, back and the arms.

Pimples are tiny eruptions on the skin which go away within a couple of days. In some cases the pimples could develop pus in them, which would make them bigger in size and more prominent.

In general cases, the pimples disappear without any trace. But if the pimples are too severe, then they could leave behind a healing scar. Over time, this would make the face very scarred and ungainly in appearance. How can Acne be avoided?

If acne is caused due to hormonal reasons, there is no way to eliminate it completely. It will pass away when the person crosses his/her pubertal age. But even then, there are many ways to prevent the acne from aggravating and to keep it at a minimum.

The following are some of the ways in which acne can be reduced:-

You can do it — look better, feel better, and raise your self-esteem 150% by getting rid of your acne for good. There are times when one has to think about alternative, natural, effective treatment methods to get the best cure or solution to their acne, zits, pimples and blackhead problems. As a registered nurse, I’ve learned a lot over the years about acne, acne scars, and acne treatments.
Nearly 80 percent of people from ages 11 to 30 years have acne, most often on the face, chest and back. In a survey conducted in Great Britain, 95% of 16-year-old males and 83% of 16 year-old females had acne. The most common types of pimples are whiteheads, blackheads, papules, pustules, nodules and cysts. Most pimples are found on the face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders. The most common type of acne is acne vulgaris.
Understanding that hormones may have some influence on the cause of acne needs to be considered. The cause of acne is really unknown. Doctors think certain factors might cause or contribute to acne including hormone increases in teenage years, hormone changes in pregnancy, starting or stopping birth control pills, heredity, medicines and greasy make-up.
The liver sluffs off toxins from bad foods, drinks, drugs and chemicals and sends them through your skin resulting in skin eruptions, acne, pimples and other skin disorders.
One treatment method some people have used is applying cornstarch, egg whites or milk of magnesia as a facial mask. Coconut is one of the best treatments I’ve found for acne. One good natural method is to apply a thin layer of coconut oil and massage it deep into the skin to heal and soothe it. The treatment plan for acne includes trying to heal the pimples, stopping new pimples from forming, preventing scarring and helping reduce embarrassment.
Treatment with raw apple cider vinegar will work better on your skin if it isn’t already noticeably irritated from acne medicines, acne products or other failed treatment. Drinking pure, filtered water may be the best acne treatment working from the inside out. It just takes motivation, a willingness to try it, and diligent application of coconut oil several times a day and at bedtime to see its benefits.
The good news is that there are several types of treatments to choose from for acne scar removal. See your skin doctor, dermatologist or dermatological surgeon for the best acne scar treatment for you. As a registered nurse, I have learned a lot over the years about acne scars, acne scar treatments, and acne scar removal.
The liver sluffs off toxins from bad foods, drinks, drugs and chemicals and sends them through your skin resulting in skin eruptions, acne, pimples and other skin disorders. Some alternative doctors recommend eating raw cloves of garlic daily for acne. Essential fatty acids are particularly important to people with inflammatory conditions such as eczema and acne. Besides external acne treatment it’s best to work from the inside out too.
Use flaxseed oil or walnut oil in your salad. Good skin is often a reflection of a good digestive system. Eat foods that contain essential fatty acids.
The skin must be regularly cleaned or it’ll become cracked or inflamed. Functions of the skin are disturbed when it is dirty; it becomes more easily damaged, the release of antibacterial compounds decreases and dirty skin is more prone to develop infections.
And whatever you do stop purchasing hundreds of dollars in skin care acne treatment solutions. Analyze all the acne treatments available and make the best decision for you, based on your circumstances. In any case, try not to panic about your acne and take it day by day.

During my career as a registered nurse, I learned a lot through the years about acne, acne scars, and acne treatments. Natural treatment methods are always a better choice for acne due to less exposure to drugs and chemical-laden acne products. By their mid-teens, nearly 35% of teenagers have acne severe enough to require some treatment from a medical professional.
While almost all young people experience acne at least once, it has been reported that 47% of those in their 20s and 30% of those in their 30s had acne. Acne is most common in teenagers and young adults. Acne is the most common skin disease.
Acne rosacea is a red rash predominantly on the face. The most common type of acne is acne vulgaris. The cause of acne is really unknown. It’s not true that dirty skin and stress cause acne. Understanding that hormones may have some influence on the cause of acne needs to be considered.
For a good acne treatment, that has worked for many, try applying virgin coconut oil daily, but on a small test area first. You want to avoid squeezing, pinching, or picking your pimples because it can cause scars or dark spots on the skin. One good natural method is to apply a thin layer of coconut oil and massage it deep into the skin to heal and soothe it. Try not to touch your skin to eliminate possible contamination.
It’s easy to treat acne cheaply, simply, naturally, yet effective, at home. Raw apple cider vinegar application is a cheap, alternative acne treatment that has worked for many adults, teens and children with acne, zits, pimples, or blemishes. Coconut oil is very inexpensive, therefore, a good, cheap home remedy.
A number of treatments are currently available to remove or improve acne scars. Acne scars result from increased tissue formation, response to the inflammation of acne and loss of tissue. Healed acne leaves scars in some people however, and it isn’t easy to predict who will end up with scars after an acne outbreak and who won’t.
The liver sluffs off toxins from bad foods, drinks, drugs and chemicals and sends them through your skin resulting in skin eruptions, acne, pimples and other skin disorders. In any case, no matter what skin or acne treatment you choose, whether it is chemical, drugs, alternative, or natural methods, changing your diet will result in your overall good health! Drink lots and lots of pure, filtered water.
Some alternative doctors recommend eating raw cloves of garlic daily for acne. Eat high-fiber snacks like raw nuts, raw seeds, and dried fruit, such as dates, and figs. Consider taking cod liver oil or fish oil supplements every day. Eat at least one organic apple with the skin on every day.
Unclean skin favors the development of pathogenic organisms – the dead cells that continually slough off of the epidermis mix with the secretions of the sweat and sebaceous glands and the dust found on the skin to form a filthy layer on its surface. Many skin conditions can be converted into healthy skin using natural home remedies.
Pick two or three home remedies or natural treatments and try them out on your skin carefully. With cheap, safe, simple, natural, effective, alternative home treatments for acne and pimples, your skin should be well on its way to recovery. And you should be able to get rid of your acne, zits and pimples and their symptoms, providing you’ve removed the cause, so it doesn’t reoccur.
